The Final Frontier...CHOCOLATE, part 3...Who cares if it's Versatile or NOT just for breakfast??!!

If you must restrict yourself from chocolate, you can always get your 'fix' with these 'chocolates'...boy would I be a happy camper in the same room with these guys...
This picture was actaully labeled 'white chocolate', something my daughter loves....

What a sad little pitiful looking chocolate kitty...think he needs some chocolate tuna (which brings up a VERY IMPORTANT fact, please do NOT ever feed your dogs or cats chocolate or raisins as both can be toxic to them)....

What could be sweeter than a baby bunny that is chocolate? No eating these ears, although I can see lots of smooching going on here.....

Aaaahh...one of my favorite food groups....

I used to only eat things that were all chocolate or chocolate and nuts (what a sheltered life I lead), but then I sampled some things mixed with chocolate and mmmmmm, new delights. This was labeled lime cheesecake and chocolate...think I could be 'brave' enough to try this....

The last of the series on chocolate education....

"Chocolate became known by doctors to have medicinal properties that could aid in many ailments. In 1662, Louis 14th of France affirmed that chocolate did not break fast for those that abstained the Easter fast. Pope Gregory 13th also declared the exception. By 1674 chocolate was being added to cake and rolls. Chocolate was now being provided in many new forms and recipes. A porcelain cup designed especially for chocolate was created in 1700. At this time milk was added to the concoction.

Chocolate was becoming ingrained and used in the lifestyle and culture of the wealthy. It symbolized the exotic and romantic characteristics of the inspired.

In 1755, the Americas received its introduction to the chocolate fantasy and began being massed produced by1765. The first chocolate house for the United States was established in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The popularity of chocolate in the states started of slow but soon became a valued asset.

The chocolate beverage was mainly drunk exclusively by men but was considered appropriate for children about the 17th century.

In 1819, a descendant of Debauve and his partner Monsieur Gallais opened a chocolate shop on the left bank of Paris that still stands there today. In Bull, John Cadbury, started the foundation of Cadbury Limited in 1824 and is one of the world’s greatest suppliers of chocolate today.

Soon the machinery for producing by-products of the cocoa bean was beginning to be developed by many, as they saw the many benefits of chocolate and its properties.

1847, the first eatable chocolate bar was introduced to the market by Fry’s of England.

Milton S. Hershey, in 1892, became fixed on the chocolate industry. And the rest was history.

There were even stories of espionage that was publicized in 1980, when a Swiss producer of Suchard-Tobler tried to secretly sell chocolate recipes to other countries like Saudi Arabia, China, and Russia. This states the true value of chocolate in our lives. The evolution of the cocoa bean into the delight it is today has been developed and transformed as being a part of social, religious, and commerce growth since its discovery.

As you know chocolate still remains a mainstay in our society and culture and has been studied by chefs and doctors to the same avail that chocolate is a divine gift from above and has been associated with the well-being of the human kind trough the times. Millions of dollars are spent on chocolate every year. The US alone consumes 2.8 billion pounds yearly, which is almost half the world’s supply of chocolate. According to researchers, chocolate has over 300 different chemicals that can influence and modify mood, they are able to reduce tension and creating pleasurable feelings. This may explain the popularity of chocolate and its ability to stand the test and trials of time and remain a favorite among the human race.

The properties of the cocoa bean have proven to attribute to the function and well-being of people. Chocolate is able to be made into various versions of delectable delights and have a positive effect if eaten in moderation. It’s like having your cake and eating it too. What would you want better than that? "

Chocolate is cheaper than therapy and you don't need an appointment.

Chocolate isn't a food, it's a medicine - an anti-depressant.

Chocolate causes certain endocrine glands to secrete hormones that affect your feelings and behavior by making you happy. Therefore, it counteracts depression, in turn reducing the stress of depression. Your stress-free life helps you maintain a youthful disposition, both physically and mentally. 1. I can now say that in the future I will enjoy my chocolate guilt-free! Yipee!
And I so wish I had known that eating chocolate was not breaking a Lenten fast! (Does that count even when your Lenten sacrifice was to give up chocolate?)

Great fun facts! Great information! Great jokes! Now I'm off to hunt down a bag of M & M's, I know Jayden has them around here somewhere!
    This was great, Marcy!
    Sincerely,
    Eileen

  2. ***Eileen, I went back and re-read my own post to try to find the part that said eating chocolate was NOT breaking a Lenten fast of giving it up...where did you find that or have you already gotten too high on m & ms??? I usually give up chocolate (but you can still have it on Sundays at which point I would make myself sick on eating ding dongs) for Lent, so I need to find this loophole that you found!

  3. Holy moly and you even 'sincerelyed' me and I just saw it! First the chocolate taunt and then this...does it never end?

  4. "Pope Gregory 13th also declared the exception", I took it to mean that he agreed that eating chocolate did not violate the rules of the Easter Fast. He was agreeing with what Louis 14th of France had decreed, no?
Are you having another 'Tamara/Jackie moment'? Or am I?!
    Cordially,
    Eileen

  5. Oh my gosh that is so funny. I grew up in Dorchester as a girl. How interesting to know such importance would fall on my old stomping grounds. Love the white squirrel and the puppies.. oh my. But the winner is little bunny!!

  6. Hi Marcy, I read your post the same way as Eileen did, so I am going to be eating chocolate through Lent cause you said I could.. LOL. Have a great day my friend and I really enjoyed your post on everything chocolate.....:-) Hugs

  7. Marcy, now Bernie's getting in on the act! Is it a conspiracy to choke me to death? Have me laugh to death? I am laughing so hard here!
Okay, Catholics, you can all eat chocolate during Lent because Marcy said we could!
Bernie, I have tears rolling down my face! You are too funny!
I usually research everything before I swallow it, but this time, I'm taking Marcy's word for it, and I'll be swallowing chocolate all during Lent!
    Yours truly,
    Eileen

  8. IN answer to your question Eileen... YES, I am on my own planet here and sometimes it gets close enough to earth that I do make sense.

***I can't believe I missed the first paragraph (I did read the first two lines and then it looked to be way too informing I am guessing), BUT that 'edict' did come out (1662) BEFORE milk (most likely sugar too)was added to the 'concoction' (1700) plus the first eatable bar did not show up until 1847, so that must mean only dark sugarless (yuck) chocolate is the exception, so I'm still caught fasting for Lent, except Sundays, la la la!

***Et tu Brute or should it be Bernie?

In fact, eating it dark and without sugar would be penance for sure!

  9. Marcy, don't you read your own posts? Do you do these things on purpose to give me some comic relief? Or is it because you know I don't think I'm the brightest bulb on the tree and you think I could use a little company?
    I love it!
And I have been researching this subject, and since chocolate is a favorite food of mine, I may just use this as a Friday Favorite tomorrow!
    Regards,
    Eileen

  11. ***I do like keepng people company, Eileen and I do read my own posts, at least the parts that I write...do I get credit for that?

Anyway, I am too busy teaching here to learn anything and that's what teachers are for, right Jackie? They have to learn other people, not learn themselves!!

And, Yes, it probably is SINFUL, BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS I am hearing confessions at 5:00 p.m. today, so I expect you and Brute, that is, Bernie, to be the first in line.

Thank Heavens at least Tammy is behaving (so far).

  12. Funny after I cleaned today I stopped at CVS and bought chocolate! Dark of coarse , it's my favorite! Did you mean Worlds Finest Chocolate Marcy? My kids used to sell that for fund raisers and it was really, really good. Jake and I usually ended up buying it all for ourselves!

  13. Forget posting! Let's just comment! What a complete riot. Marcy, I'm glad to see you took my suggestion in one of MY own comment responses and did the "chocolate part 3" post.

    With cordial regards, Rebecca

  14. I now fancy some chocolate - you do know I'm trying to reduce my consumption of it so that it can actually be healthy for me to have some. :) It's too early here for me to start eating it just yet. Maybe I'll pop over to the mall and get a chocolate covered macadamia coconut shortbread biscuit for a treat.

  15. ***Sure, Sarah, go ahead and taunt us with your "only can be found in Hawaii" treats...think you might need to be third in line at confession today (see above comments for time and person)...boy have I got my work cut out for today!

***Diana, of course I meant only World's Finest Chocolate...psst, have you got any on you? You know, open that coat with all the inside pockets full of chocolate...I'll take ten, with almonds, please!!
And you're eating healthy chocolate...what's with that Diana, are you trying to show me up...or should that be show me down...oh, what the heck, just show me around!

***Rebecca, just let me know if you need any more sequels to chocolate. I promise they won't get scarier like Jaws II etc.(never even saw Jaws I so I'm just guessing about all the Jaws and their scariness...you think they were just jacking their Jaws?)

  17. ***Lisa, of course, it's all about health, health, health...everyone knows how healthy cheese is for you and then combine that with the above mentioned medicinal affects of chocolate and it's almost NECESSARY to eat the stuff and get smarter too. So, for goodness sakes sacrifice yourself Lisa and eat ALL those hidden snickers...who knows, you may give Einstein a run for his money?!

  18. Wow! Thanks for visiting and covering for your friend, Jackie. My computer has been with the Geek Squad now for one week. I am going through withdrawal! I probably need some chocolate. Yes, sounds like we do have some things in common! And I love chocolate, also but doesn't every normal person? Course that's assuming something. Another thing--on my mother's side, our favorite hymn was, "Count your blessings." Sounds like we both came from good stock. Blessings indeed.

  21. These choclate posts are killing me. I've been raiding my stash on a nightly basis. I'm so terrible about chocolate that I melt those little toll house semi dark chips and eat it with a spoon. I guess it's ok though if they have medicinal purposes :>)

  22. Ok Marcy...you are killing me with all these absolutely delicious, yummy, scrumptious pictures of chocolate desserts and sweet chocolate puppies and such...especially that little chocolate chihuaha..I'd definately take that!!
I love chocolate...it's an addiction along with coffee for me :)
I love that the genie turned the guy into a box of chocolates...that was hilarious!!
An old friend of mine once joked with me that we should open a chocolate shop and offer great magazines for the ladies to read while they munched on chocolate..I don't know what we'd call the place..but I definately think I know some women that would like that..
Thanks for all the thoughtful comments and prayers...
I'll try to do the meme tomorrow!!
    Love, Jerelene

  23. I just saw your comment on Diana about your keyboard problems, and I can commiserate! The same thing happens to me a lot! I'll be typing away and when I look at the screen either there is NOTHING there, no response at all, or the screen will be blank for awhile and then whole paragraphs will finally show up! Or every other letter responds and I have a bunch of gobbledy-gook printed on the screen! It's enough for me to yell UNCLE!
    Other times it responds perfectly!

Well, good luck! I'd hate to think of us being relegated to one or two-word comments! We'll have to set up some kind of code!
    Love you, E
PS ~ the last verification word was 'muleing'! That should be for Jackie!
