I know I can do this!
Well, this was supposed to be last Wednesday's post, but that didn't happen. So this will now be called Marvelous Monday's post.
What has been happening is tons of more rain, in fact, there has been more rain recorded in the state of Georgia than has ever occurred in the history of weather reporting!! Which means we are back to square one with our septic problems...rats! Looks like our income tax return will be going towards an improved system but meanwhile we visit our local grocery store for restroom needs and showers are happening at Michael's workplace, although I can still do the dishes by throwing out the water, so that's a blessing...too bad my clothes washing effort didn't work.......although...I have been tempted to try a smaller load (shhh, don't tell Michael!)
Let's change this sad story to a picture or two.
Here's one of Michael and I taken in late December when we went to Fernbank museum...it looks as if I am falling into him with my eyes closed...well, a girl's gotta get sleep whenever she can!...
You may be asking yourselves where the neat internet information is that Marcy usually supplies us with? Well, it is bye bye for today as I need to get this post out and I need to go to the store!!!!!!!
Time for some smiles...

Remember me mentioning that there were still some nativities back in Arizona (sad to say, I only found three)? Well, here's one I found when we were there this past November...
This is just a neat one I thought I'd share with you because it is just a wire silhouette...
Time for some smiles...
Assembly Line
Students in the adult French class I teach include quite a few health-care professionals. During one class, I was coughing so badly a doctor in the class raised her hand. "If you like, I could give you a prescription for that," she offered. Another hand shot up. "I could fill it for you," said a pharmacist's assistant. Not to be outdone, a paramedic added, "And I can take you there to pick it up!"
Unattractive
Smiling, I said, "I bet you say that to all new parents."
"No," he replied, "just to those whose babies really are good-looking."
"So what do you say to the others?" I asked.
"He looks just like you."
Old McDonald
While waiting in line at the Department of Vehicle Services for my new license plate, I heard the clerk shout out, "E I E I O." "Here," the woman standing next to me answered.
Curious, I asked if she was married to a farmer, or maybe taught preschool.
"Neither," she replied. "My name is McDonald."
~~~Thank You Lord for the blessings of patience, please grant us LOTS of it (and I will avoid the temptation to say 'right now".)
Cleaning up the leftovers
Well, let's see if I can get back on track with posting. As a young girl (10-12 yrs. old) I used to be a pretty good pitcher and catcher for baseball so let's see if I can't handle some of these curve balls that have been thrown my way.
Tomorrow morning my sweet duaghter Laura will be going back to Phoenix and I will deeply miss her. She is still fighting this bad bout of bronchitis but she said that she finally felt slightly better yesterday. Instead of coughing for 45 minutes out of every hour (literally, but probably even more), she is now only coughing once or twice each hour.
We are supposed to go see a neighbor's nativities tonight..my neighbor has about 100 really nice and unusual nativites.
Fortunately we did get to finally go (Laura really pushed herself to go there as even her energy level is very low) to Mimi's to see the llamas up close and personal.
Life is really off track and there have been missed painting classes, poetry recital meetings, prayer meetings as well as untyped HOA minutes (guess I will have to get creative here and make people read them and say...'wow, I don't remember discussing this' or 'did we really all decide to go to Marcy's and clean her yard, the kitty litter and wash the windows?"), so there are some challenges to overcome and catch up with.
That makes this leftover picture so appropriate,,,,
New Year's resolutions should always include good eating or better eating habits, so when I found this among my leftover pictures, it was perfect...
There must always be time for quiet reflective moments and I'd love to be sitting on this rock just praying...
When I was first married and living in Alaska with my late beloved husband Mario, we had a trailer in Delta Junction, Alaska and one day Mario called me outside and there below the steps was a family of buffalo, complete with a baby and covered in a light coat of snow...sooo pretty, maybe that's why I had this picture in my files...
This is to remind me/us that, even in our most difficult and trying moments there is only one set of footprints in the sand because Jesus is carrying us through it all...
Knowing how much I love all animals, this must be a picture that I came across and couldn't resist...
++
Maybe I collected this one to remind myself to stop squawking so much when things go wacko???...
And this is just a nice artsy picture so my love of art caused this one to be 'grabbed'...
Aside from the healthy part of this picture the flying pear appeals to my silly side...
Knowing how 'earth saving' I am, can anyone question why I saved this picture?....
Or, finally, how about joining me for some tea or coffee or water with lemon here at the warm seaside (a far cry from the ice and light snow that we have here still)...
Let's have a couple of VERY corny jokes and then some cute 'out of the mouth of babes' jokes....
Bach Decomposing Joke
Two grave robbers decided to rob a grave, that's what they do. They find a prety nice grave and start digging.
After they dug up the topsoil they found a hole and in the hole there was a man with wild white hair sitting in front of a piano. The man would play a couple notes then erase something on a piece of music.
The two men, amazed beyond belief, yelled down to the man, 'Who are you, and what are you doing?' The man looked up and said...
'IM BACH, AND IM DECOMPOSING'
Atoms Joke
Two atoms were walking down the sidewalk and suddenly one slips off the curb and says "Oh no, I've lost my electron!"
The other atom says "Are you sure?"
1st atom says "Yes, I'm positive!"
What's Really Important
One warm summer evening a mother was driving with her three young children. A woman in the convertible in front of them stood up and waved. She was STARK NAKED. As the mother was reeling from shock, the five year old said, "Mom, that lady isn't wearing a seat belt!"
Ketchup
A mother was struggling to get the ketchup out of the bottle when the phone rang. She asked her four year old daughter to answer it. She heard her daughter say, "Mommy can't come to the phone. She's hitting the bottle."
I Pledge Allegiance
Not quite getting it, the little first grader said, "I led the pigeons to the flag."
~~~Thank You Heavenly Father for the blessings of all the leftovers that we come across, just showing how we are blessed with so much that there is something leftover!

Something Christmas Poppin In
This morning as I was laying in bed, very ambitious thoughts were going through my head...this time it would have been better to have those 'sugar plums' dancing in my head. Being so far behind in my blogging posts that I am almost ahead of myself has weighed on me so I said I will go in and change my header and re-vamp some of my sidebars...oops, then there would be no post PLUS, if things went the way they did last time I attempted to re-do my blog, you would see a big mess. Instead here is a humble post, with apologies for not having/taking time to even post comments. BUT I ALWAYS remember to pray for all of you, so even if a 'catastophe' strikes, like dear Jerelene having emergency surgery, please be comforted by knowing that I am praying!
Here's a cute little snowman with a sweet little wand...now if he was magical, I would have him wave his wand on you and all your Christmas baking, cards, presents, shopping, cleaning etc. would be done....and you would have no money or health problems, you would be at a spa getting an two hour long massage, you would step on the scale and it would say "You lovely thing, thanks for stepping on me. I barely felt it and you seem to be losing so much weight and you don't even need to. Please hurry back, I just love you and you love me too." (when I fantasize things look REALLY good)....
Since taking pictures and downloading and then finding them all takes so much time, I went hunting for some online again AND I found the exact outside nativity that we had three years ago! It looked this good when we first put it out and then it rained...lots of rain....this is NOT really an outside nativity...it folded where it should not fold and bent and separated and then fell down...very sad...sadder still that it is still in our garage awaiting an impossible repair!.....
Still, incredibly blessed I found yet another nativity that I have but mine is in color not black and white...maybe this one is so old it was made before color nativities (just joking here). Last night I also just finished setting this one up, so how much more incredible is that? The pieces like to fall down as they are a light wood and very thin (so that they can be stored back in that nativity 'stable' you see behind the figures)...
Now, for those wondering what I have been doing and so that you do not think I have just been frittering my time away, here are some of the things going on around here...
Shopping...grocery, gift, Christmas tree children gifts (had to go to the mall for one requested gift), gift wrapping, putting out tons of nativities...redoing nativities knocked down or over by cats, dogs and people, searching for nativities and decorations, putting up tree, more shopping, visiting, putting up the lighted nativity above the door which is waaayy up there (just about nose bleed high),trying to get through writing and addressing and stamping over 50 Christmas cards, bill paying (what a challenge this was the other day, but that is another story), decorating house, baking and baking and baking...so far we have made homemade ginger bread, almond crescents, almond cookies, bird's nest cookies, molasses cookies, chocolate highlander bars (and we still have about six more recipes to make before the people start coming over to view the nativities)and a BIG mess in the kitchen each time that requires four or five maids to clean up each time but being short on maids I have had to put an apron on Michael and pretend (he does look cute in his tights and little French maid outfit...more fantasizing here), mailing packages and standing in the post office line for long enough to get to know all other 57 people on a first name basis (it did feel that way), going to meetings for the Consolation group, prayer group, painting and now our church mission...what WAS our pastor thinking doing it THIS week with all the chaos???, a lector's meeting for a poetry recital...what WAS this leader thinking doing this during this busy time?...hmmm, maybe no one is thinking and maybe I shouldn't be thinking either!
This post was partially done many days ago, so here is an exerpt from the Internet for you which teaches us that the message we get may be WAY more powerful than the message we expect....
"Children are able to communicate a message better than any adult. The story below will touch your heart. May your Christmas have Joy, Peace and Love in big overflowing portions.
Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm and peaceful experience.
I had cut back on nonessential obligations - extensive card writing, endless baking, decorating, and even overspending. Yet still, I found myself exhausted, unable to appreciate the precious family moments, and of course, the true meaning of Christmas.
My son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was an exciting season for a six year old. For weeks, he'd been memorizing songs for his school's "Winter Pageant." I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd be working the night of the production.
Unwilling to miss his shining moment, I spoke with his teacher. She assured me there'd be a dress rehearsal the morning of the presentation. All parents unable to attend that evening were welcome to come then. Fortunately, Nicholas seemed happy with the compromise.
So, the morning of the dress rehearsal, I filed in 10 minutes early, found a spot on the cafeteria floor and sat down. Around the room, I saw several other parents quietly scampering to their seats. As I waited, the students were led into the room. Each class, accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the floor. Then, each group, one by one, rose to perform their song. Because the public school system had long stopped referring to the holiday as "Christmas", I didn't expect anything other than fun, commercial entertainment--songs of reindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakes and good cheer. So, when my son's class rose to sing, "Christmas Love", I was slightly taken aback by its bold title.
Nicholas was aglow, as were all of his classmates, adorned in fuzzy mittens, red sweaters, and bright snowcaps upon their heads.
Those in the front row--center stage--held up large letters, one by one, to spell out the title of the song.
As the class would sing "C is for Christmas", a child would hold up the letter "C". Then, "H is for Happy", and on and on, until each child holding up his portion had presented the complete message, "Christmas Love".
The performance was going smoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her--a small, quiet girl in the front row holding the letter "M" upside down totally unaware her letter "M" appeared as a "W".
The audience of 1st through 6th graders snickered at this little one's mistake. But she had no idea they were laughing at her, so she stood tall, proudly holding her "W".
Although many teachers tried to shush the children, the laughter continued until the last letter was raised, and we all saw it together.
A hush came over the audience and eyes began to widen. In that instant, we understood--the reason we were there, why we celebrated the holiday in the first place, why even in the chaos, there was a purpose for our festivities.
For when the last letter was held high, the message read loud and clear: CHRIST WAS LOVE."
And, I believe AND know, He still is and always will be.
Now time for some laughs....
Now time for some laughs....
~Other Uses For Fruitcakes ~
Paint a few white and place them outside on the grass
So people won't park on your lawn.
Use it as building material.
(This is actually what the Ancient Egyptians used to build the Great Pyramids.)
Keep one under your pillow for home defense.
Send one to the junk mail company with a note
Asking them to take you off their list.
It's colorful, use it as a Yule Log.
Carve the Presidents' faces in it and
submit as a science or art project.
Give one to your boss and tell him it's a life preserver.
Use it as a base for flower arrangements.
Donate to the local airport for use as airliner wheel blocks.
Grind a few up and give it back to your in-laws in a bag marked "lawn fertilizer."
For a community project, sink a few in the ocean
and build an artificial reef.
Tie one to each foot when you walk through
deep snow to keep your feet dry.
Into the Church
The hardware store humanely trapped the squirrels and set them free outside town. But three days later, the squirrels climbed back in.
Only the church came up with an effective solution. They baptized the squirrels and made them members. Now they see them only on Christmas and Easter.
~~~Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessing of being able to re-focus on the important things like reaching out to others and taking time for thankful prayers.
A Birthday that Was a Birthday Gift
Once upon a time there was a wonderful birth of a beautiful little baby boy that ended up being a birthday gift for his daddy. My caring and kind son was born on November 2nd and we brought him home on November 6th, his dad's birthday, such a special treasured birthday "gift". I feel sure his wonderful daddy is looking down from Heaven and blessing him especially today...
"Happy Birthday Song Information
Happy Birthday to You, the four-line rhyme, sung all over the world, by millions of people at a time - fabulous!
It was written as a classroom greeting by two Louisville teachers, Mildred J. Hill in the year 1893 at Columbia University.
The composer of the song Happy Birthday to You is Mrs. Mildred J. Hill, a schoolteacher born in Louisville, KY, and the composition was created on June 27, 1859. The song was first debuted in 1893. And the lyrics of this beautiful song were written by her sister, Patty Smith Hill, as "Good Morning To All."
Happy Birthday to You was copyrighted in the year 1935 and this copyright was renewed in the year 1963. The song was actually written in 1893, but it received its first copyrights in the year 1935 after a claim (stated in the New York Times of August 15, 1934, p.19 col. 6)
Later on, it was in the year 1988, when Birch Tree Group, Ltd. sold the copyrights of the birthday song to Warner Communications (together with all other resources) for almost $25 million (much more than a song). (Stated in Time, Jan 2, 1989 v133 n1 p88 (1)
In the 80s, the song Happy Birthday to You was estimated to make more than $1 million in royalties yearly. With Auld Lang Syne and For He's a Jolly Good Fellow, it is considered one of the most well-liked songs in the English language. (Stated in Time, Jan 2, 1989 v133 n1 p88 (1)
Happy Birthday to You continues to bring in about 2 million dollars in licensing returns annually, as a minimum of 1996 records, in line with the Warner Chappell and a Forbes magazine report."
The Birthday Gift
There were a bunch of soldiers out on some very long field maneuvers in the middle of some dirty swamp land. This was designed to made them feel rough and tough and pretty grimy too.
After a week of sweating and no bathing and dirty clothes, the Captain says "Men, in honor of George Washington's birthday, I have some good news and some bad news! First the good news...Tomorrow we will have a change of underwear!!!" Everyone starts shouting, thumping each other on the back and yelling and singing "Happy Birthday to George Washington" as well as "For he's a jolly good fellow..."
"Now for the bad news" says the Captain... "Woods you change with Toney, Oldham you change with Borkowski-Glass, Jansson you change with Siebels, Postin you change with Barrales...."
~~~Thank You gracious Father for the blessing of a precious "little bundle" to warm our hearts, as well as for all the precious little ones in our lives.

"A meme is any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another.
A meme is defined within memetic theory as a unit of cultural information, cultural evolution or diffusion that propagates from one mind to another analogously to the way in which a gene propagates from one organism to another as a unit of genetic information and of biological evolution. Multiple memes may propagate as cooperative groups called memeplexes (meme complexes). Via Wikipedia.
Biologist and evolutionary theorist Richard Dawkins coined the term meme in 1976. He gave as examples tunes, catch-phrases, beliefs, clothing fashions, ways of making pots, and the technology of building arches.
Meme theorists contend that memes evolve by natural selection similarly to Charles Darwin's theory of biological evolution through the processes of variation, mutation, competition, and inheritance influencing an organism's reproductive success. So with memes, some ideas will propagate less successfully and become extinct, while others will survive, spread, and, for better or for worse, mutate. Memeticists argue that the memes most beneficial to their hosts will not necessarily survive; rather, those memes that replicate the most effectively spread best, which allows for the possibility that successful memes may prove detrimental to their hosts."

The Driving Test
A professional juggler, driving to his next performance, is stopped by the police.
"What are you doing with these matches and lighter fluid in your car?" asks the police officer.
"I'm a juggler and I juggle flaming torches in my act."
"Oh yeah? Let's see you do it," says the officer.
So the juggler gets out and starts juggling the blazing torches
masterfully.
A couple driving by slows down to watch. "Wow," says the driver to his
wife. "I'm glad I quit drinking. Look at the test they're giving now!"

Mishmash here and there
There are so many incredibly weird words in English and mishmash is just one of them, but it does describe the mix-up of things in this post today.
Main Entry: mish·mash
Pronunciation: \ˈmish-ˌmash, -ˌmäsh\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English & Yiddish; Middle English mysse masche, perhaps reduplication of mash mash; Yiddish mish-mash, perhaps reduplication of mishn to mix
Date: 15th century
: hodgepodge, jumble
Over the week-end I cleaned out the cabinets in our bathroom and Michael put in new faucets (he didn't want to 'rush' into doing this as we have had them for over two years now...in his defense I must say that they are terrible to replace and a HUGE undertaking). Well, all that cleaning and sorting inspired me to clean and sort through pictures I have snagged from the Internet to use in posts but that kind of got forgotten and not used after all. Maybe you can help me figure some of them out???!!
This must have been one that I was going to use on a post about money because I've never done one on Georgia...

Maybe this one belonged in a post about ...hmmm...could it have been a Sunday reflection post?...
This is one that was supposed to go in this past Sunday's post but kind of got lost. See the folder that I put the pictures in only shows so many pictures at one time and then I can re-click to see some more but never all of them, so they can get 'lost'...

Here's one that belonged in those posts about vinegar that I did....

Seriously, if you have a better clue than me on some of these, please let me know as I can't figure out where this one was going but I've had it for a long time now (pretty funny that it says what it does)...

This might have been one I was including for my own mom on the anniversary of her birthday...

This is just a lovely one that I have had for a long time and must have been meant for a post on tranquility that never transpired...

This one I do remember as it was supposed to be a part of the thank you post for that wonderful thing that was done on my birthday, so thank you again...

Another old one that must have had to do with a post on pain and the way to 'kill' it....what do you think?...
Aha...this one belonged on the Fountain of Youth post for sure....
Here's a good one that should have been in the post on newspapers, but it apparently got 'lost at sea'...
Remember when I did the post on miniature sheep?.....
And here is a mishmash of goofy puns...
A GOOD PUN IS ITS OWN RE-WORD:
What do you call a country where everyone drives a red car? A red carnation.
Energizer Bunny arrested - charged with battery.
A pessimist's blood type is always b-negative.
A Freudian slip is when you say one thing but mean your mother.
A hangover is the wrath of grapes.
Corduroy pillows are making headlines.
Every morning is the dawn of a new error.
Sea captains don't like crew cuts.
Does the name Pavlov ring a bell?
A successful diet is the triumph of mind over platter.
A gossip is someone with a great sense of rumor.
Reading while sunbathing makes you well, red.
A man's home is his castle, in a manor of speaking.
Dijon vu - the same mustard as before.
When two egotists meet, it's an I for an I.
A bicycle can't stand on its own because it is two-tired.
What's the definition of a will? (Come on, it's a dead giveaway!)
~~~Thank You Lord for the blessings of the mishmash in our lives, may we make it orderly and beautiful little by little.
What did she do on...A SUPER DUPER BIRTHDAY???
This past birthday certainly started out like no other...It felt like there was a ticker/confetti parade going on when I logged on in the early hours of my birthday and saw all those wonderful Happy Birthdays from so many wonderful people!! Of course I cried and smiled and oohed and aahed....
The day before my birthday a sweet and thoughtful friend sent me some beautiful flowers (I still need to download my pictures) and then later on my step/heart daughter Kelly gave me some flowers and a miniature rose plant (hopefully one that Oliver won't eat this time).....
After looking at my blog I got the most wonderful call on my cell phone singing Happy Birthday to me....
I did NOT go for any thrills like these and more power to people who can...
After having gone out with Michael for breakfast, I found a beautiful message with a sung Happy Birthday again from a dear friend...
Here's where Michael and I went for my birthday breakfast and a buy one get one free deal too!...
After a little shopping (very little as it was pouring, but I like the rain), we decided it was siesta time, so we took a little snooze...just wish Michael's head was a little lighter (guess there's too many brains in there?)...
Later on we finished the cake I made the day before...I even requested that we have me make the cake as so often we don't eat all of the other bought cakes or they end up less than good. But not to worry, Michael did ALOT of helping with the cake...it was home made orange sponge cake with real whipped cream (even in the center after I cut it in half) and sweetened orange zest on top....mmm, yummy. Crazy Kelly said that if there is any left she'd take some to work on Monday...there was none left on SATURDAY!!
Uh oh...nope, we didn't take a second nap, but this does look like me throwing an arm over Michael...
For dinner we went to the only place that I eat steak (remember I am a HUGE chicken fan) and my dinner looked pretty much like this, only I chose the tasty salad instead of the green beans (plus lots of butter on my potato)...
This is the name of my 'steak restaurant' and it was the 7 oz. Victoria fillet...mmm, mmm yummy...
Here's another thing we did NOT do, although Jackie from Teacher's Pet would just LOVE this...actually, just looking at this would probably freak Michael as he has a fear of heights...hmmm...this could actually CAUSE that fear in someone....
Now here's my idea of getting a thrill...not really as I do some silly stuff (like the time I made Michael bob for apples in the bath tub) but it doesn't usually involve possible loss of limbs...
Now, poor Wanda was lamenting that no one took her award that she offered, so here it is but I captured it too little and it won't enlarge well, but I AM keeping it with my other valuables, Wanda and thank you for sharing it !!.....
This is yet another thrill I won't be trying...sure hope the brakes are good on that ride...
Reading about thrills is safer for your health and/or body unless the reading causes high blood pressure....
While I am not afraid of snakes, I don't 'long' for their company and this guy doesn't look like an evening of fun, except maybe for Jackie and then of course Wanda (who is really Snow White in disguise)...
Think I have thrilled everyone (esp. Diana who wanted to know about my BIG day) MORE THAN YOU WERE READY TO BE THRILLED, so calm down and take an elephant tranquilizer and all will be well!
Now, would I forget to give you the 'thrill' of some chuckles??? Hopefully never...
A man asked his wife, "What would you most like for your birthday?" She said, "I'd love to be ten again." On the morning of her birthday, he got her up bright and early and they went to a theme park. He put her on every ride in the park - the Death Slide, The Screaming Loop, the Wall of Fear. She had a go on every ride there was. She staggered out of the theme park five hours later, her head reeling and her stomach turning. Then off to a movie theater, popcorn, cola and sweets. At last she staggered home with her husband and collapsed into bed. Her husband leaned over and asked, "Well, dear, what was it like being ten again?" One eye opened and she groaned, "Actually, honey, I meant dress size!"
Fred: I was going to buy you a handkerchief for your birthday. Harry: That was a kind thought. But why didn't you?
Fred: I couldn't find one big enough for your nose.
Fred: Do you like the dictionary I bought you for your birthday?
Fred: Do you like the dictionary I bought you for your birthday?
Harry: Sure. It's a great present but I just can't find the words to thank you enough.
Cat: "What did you get him for his birthday?"
Cat: "What did you get him for his birthday?"
Dog: "Pant . . . pant!"
Cat: "Great . . . he needs a pair of pants!"
A lady is throwing a party for her granddaughter, and had gone all out..... a caterer, band, and a hired clown. Just before the party started, two bums showed up looking for a handout. Feeling sorry for the bums, the woman told them that she would give them a meal if they will help nail some loose boards back in place on her deck. Gratefully, they headed to the rear of the house.
The guests arrived, and all was going well with the children having a wonderful time. But the clown hadn't shown up. After a half and hour, the clown finally called to report that he was stuck in traffic, and would probably not make the party at all.
The woman was very disappointed and unsuccessfully tried to entertain the children herself. She happened to look out the window and saw one of the bums doing cartwheels across the lawn. She watched in awe as he swung from tree branches, did mid-air flips, and leaped high in the air.
She spoke to the other bum and said, "What your friend is doing is absolutely marvelous. I have never seen such a thing. Do you think your friend would consider repeating this performance for the children at the party? I would pay him $50!"
The other bum says, "Well, I dunno. Let me ask him. 'HEY WILLIE! FOR $50, WOULD YOU HAMMER ANOTHER TOE?"
