A Birthday Foot in the Water

Okay, steady as we go...here comes a blogging foot in the water after almost a week of no posting, but today is a BIG day so.....

I might have to put two feet in the water.......

This guy looks a little like her kitty, only VooDoo Fluff (she named her, don't ask me) is almost all black with some bare white tips of fur....

Laura is my second daughter and the second baby I was blessed to bring home. I was awake for three of my four deliveries and when she was born I started crying like crazy. The doctor looked at me and said "Are you disappointed to have another girl?" I could only choke out that it was the total opposite and that I was so happy that all I could do was cry for happiness!! Her daddy was the same way and couldn't get enough of her. Mario would fall asleep with one hand hanging over her bassinet gently rocking her.

Mario was even more choked up by the fact that he was going for his second Vietnam tour when she was only 5 weeks old. In fact, he had to step into the men's room at the airport to shed a few private tears before boarding the plane and kissing us all one more time. Yet another 'advantage' of being female is being able to weep in public and no one says look at that sissy baby. I know he is looking down from Heaven and blessing her today as well.

So here's a cute little birthday cake for a cute but not-so-little any more birthday girl...

This was so cute that I just had to post it for the heck of it and it does have a little birthday cake or two on it too....

Laura absolutely LOVES animals (a chip off the ol' momma block here), so I gathered these guys to say Happy Birthday to her (she'd probably smooch them all)....

A little story about Laura...we went to a pet shop to see and hold the animals and Laura is allergic to, but loves cats so she held an Angora kitten and cuddled it. Five minutes later we went to the grocery store and she was covered in welts all over her neck!! We left to go home and get some benadryl. Instead of just avoiding her beloved animals, she now desensitizes herself to new cats by gradually staying in the same room with them and then sleeping next to them.
Please keep Laura in prayer, too, that she may find a part time job where she lives in AZ so that she can have enough to live off of as her Social Security disability (extraordinarily severe migraine headaches) check is not enough.

Here come smiles for Laura's special day...

The Water Pistol

My five year old son squealed with delight when he opened his birthday present from his grandmother. It was a water pistol. He promptly ran to the sink to fill it.

"Mom," I said. I'm surprised at you. "Don't you remember how we used to drive you crazy with water pistols?"

My mom smiled and said, "Yes, I remember."

Birthday Gift...Found It!

The teenager lost his new birthday contact lens while playing basketball in his
driveway. After a fruitless search, he told his mother the lens
was no where to be found.

Undaunted, she went outside and in a few minutes returned with the
lens in her hand.

“How did you manage to find it, Mom?” the teenager asked.

“We weren’t looking for the same thing,” she replied. “You were
looking for a small piece of plastic. I was looking for $150 !!"

Support a Family

The prospective son-in-law was asked by his girl friend's father, "Son, can you support a family?"

"Well, no, sir," he replied. "I was just planning to support your daughter. The rest of you have to fend for yourselves."

~~~Thank You dear Lord for the blessings of celebrating the birthdays of loved ones.
  1. Hi, all you wonderful people!!!
    I am hoping to post on Friday again, good Lord willing, as I still need to call three more creditors and resolve another possible problem today and tomorrow.
    Thank you and may God richly bless you for your continuing comments and prayers!!!
  2. Keep at it Marcy, you're doing a wonderful job, but we do miss you. Don't you worry about all those other villagers, I'll keep them in order til you get back.
  3. Hi Marcy!
    I'm so glad that you are back! I am allergic to cats that have white fur on them! I too will break out like that! Any other cats and I'm fine, but if they have a little bit of white fur and I pet them I start itching all over!
    I wonder if Laura would be able to clean houses? My DIL makes $200.00 a week doing that. I can't do as much as she can any more but it's good quick cash!
    I loved the contact lens joke, so true!!
    Love Di
  5. ***I popped back here as I am making my rounds to comment and I am SO glad I did as Diana has me laughing!! Laura cleaning houses???? Whoa Nelly...she excelled and got A s in college and got great job performance reports, but a clean room or house...nope, not gonna happen...she is 'challenged' in the cleaning and the cooking division. The staff pitched in their own money to get her a small microwave after she almost burned down her former one room apartment by putting the paper frozen dinner container and all in the oven!
    If she ever 'cleaned' a home they would pay her NOT to come back!!
    ***Angie, you aren't being too tough on them are you? Like using tricky England English on them?
    Time to get back to the comment stuff...
  9. Okay, I got the kids settled playing Legos, Mia is already asking for her yogurt so this will be a quick one too!
    But I just want you to know that I am praying for your Laura that everything works out.
    And I am in awe when I hear what people get paid in the rest of the country!! If Diana's daughter-in-law were cleaning here she'd get more like $200 a day!!
    Take care, Marcy!
  12. Happy Birthday to your dear Laura! I cannot imagine what migrane headaches would be like. I felt sad when I read that. I will say a prayer for her that she would find some extra work to do where she lives.
    What a sweet tribute to her! Like everyone, you have an amazing story of your life. Sitting with you and a cup of coffee would be so interesting.
  17. Hi Marcy...I scrolled and scrolled and scrolled...and maybe I won't be bumped...:)) but I wanted to say your post was a sweet happy birthday to Laura...and I'm sure Mario is looking down smiling on her special day today...smiling at both of you...Mama and daughter. What a sweet post. It's good to see you on blogger, and like Angie said, we're being good....we have to watch out for a few villagers...no names...to protect the innocent.
    :))
    The lady's man was here...and the ladies too, so it's been good to be here among friends. I love the graphics you posted...and the jokes too. It's as if you never left. You eased back in ever so easily and comfortably....but know that you are missed until Friday when you post again.
    I'll be back before then, of course! Until then, take care of you...
    Smiles,
    Jackie
  21. So glad to have you back....I have been reading daily but just haven't posted anything...I have lots to post too! I guess I better get off my duff and just do it...oh and by the way..."HAPPY BIRTH-DAY" TO YOU. My mother always made a point to call her daughters to wish them a happy birth-day because after all it was a Birthing-day for them. I carry on the tradition...if it wasn't for us...there wouldn't be a birthday for them!....hugs....lindalu
