~~~One cuckoo Bird and one cuckoo Redhead~~~~~~
WEDNESDAY'S POEM
Can hardly talk about the goofy birds
When I have messed up in so many words
Can I read, can I write?
Looks like Teacher Jackie knows my plight.
This bird keeps banging against the glass
And I was looking like I had no class
But it all worked out in the end
cuz Jackie said she's still my friend.
This could be me...pretty sad sight to see...
This is what my brain thinks I look like now...close to the brain of a cow!
Okay, here is the sad, sad story of a pitiful redhead.
Yesterday evening I got on the computer (BIG mistake) to look around once more at all my wonderful friends (who are obviously MUCH brighter than me) and decided to visit Tamara's site once more @ Tamara's Treasures (next BIG mistake). Not re-reading Tamara's post was yet another HUGE mistake. Tamara normally does not post about family, but she did this time and I FORGOT!!
When I saw a comment from Jackie saying Happy birthday to Abby, I thought that Jackie had flipped, gone crazy or whatever or maybe that she thought she was at a site belonging to someone named Abby!!
Next GIGANTIC mistake was to make a comment about Jackie maybe losing her marbles and drinking too much etc. so that Tamara would not feel so offended that Jackie thought her name was Abby and it was her birthday. Instead of just leaving it there and then, I e-mail Jackie and Eileen and even Diana (who, fortunately for her, was offline) to tell them what a guffaw Jackie has made and to come check it out!!!
Anyway, to make a long story short, as Eileen said, every village has an idiot, so I guess I'm yours...will all of you please let me at least stay on the outskirts of the village????
And now for the bird part of the poem(who is banging away as I type right now...)
This bird must obviously be a distant relative of mine...if you enlarge the photo you can see him , banging repeatedly against the window:
He/she did this so many times and for three days in a row (well, actually it is still happening every day and some evenings)...
It drove the cats nuts and they couldn't keep their eyes off of the bird...so here's little Oliver, hoping the bird will make it through the glass...
A close up of Oliver looking so wistfully at the window....
Later in the day, the bird tries again...
Now Oliver is at the bottom of the stairs looking up and still hoping...
It's the next day and the bird has returned...(other than goofy and not too smart, do you know what kind of bird this is, Wanda?)...(Please don't say a Marcy bird.)
See how high up the bird was flying to get in....?
Never give up...a great lesson in good Christianity....
Even if you find yourself bonking your beak against a window...
Don't quit, never say never...
Found and want to share this little treasure from Lisa @Are We There Yet:
THE ONE WORD MEME!
Copy and change the answers to suit you and pass it on. It’s really hard to use only one-word answers (or cheat like I did).
1. Where is your cell phone? purse, needing to be charged, like my brain.
Carrying this question over to the next would make me answer this way:
2. Your hair? on my head (but straight with a teeny tiny almost invisible wave is the right answer)
3. Your mother? Kathryn (in Heaven)
4. Your father? Frank (also in Heaven)
5. Your favorite food? chicken and chocolate (but NOT together).
6. Your dream last night? going dancing (I love to dance)
7. Your favorite drink? water with lemon or lime.
8. Your dream/goal? write a book (or gain a brain).
9. What room you are in? computer room (converted bedroom) .
10. Your hobby? knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading, blogging, gardening. doing dumb stuff in blogland...
11. Your fear? hell and the devil trying to take the world there.
12. Where do you want to be in 6 years? anywhere with Michael and Kelly and at least near one of my biological children.
13. Where were you last night? returning a movie, picking up Michael's meds, getting rings inspected at the mall and going to BJs for groceries and one brief but memorable trip to La La Land (via Tamara's comment box).
14. Something that you aren’t? hurtful (It's okay if Tamara, Jackie, Eileen and Diana add "bright" as in sharp, intelligent, clicking on all cylinders etc.)
15. Muffins? blueberry
16. Wish list item? a functional brain
17. Where you grew up? Chicago, Chicago, my kind of town...(I really was brighter back then, so please don't disown me, Chicago).
18. Last thing you did? Laugh hysterically as poor Jackie worried about correcting the problem she didn't make.
19. What are you wearing? nightgown
20. Your TV? off
21. Your pets? four (all embarrassed to know me now!)
22. Friends? incredible blessings.
23. Your life? a tad daffy, literally.
24. Your mood? contrite and humbled
25. Missing someone? tons and tons
26. Car? Dodge Caravan
27. Something you’re not wearing? my brain
28. Your favorite store? thrift shops or anywhere there's a sale.
29. Your favorite color? green
30. When is the last time you laughed? yesterday evening
31. Last time you cried? movie
32. Who will resend/answer this? Those who feel 'guilty' (because I will cry or moan and groan and you feel sorry for the feeble minded) not sending/answering it...this means YOU know who...
33. One place that I go to over and over? BJs...they probably think I camp out in the parking lot, (but they're just glad I'm not making comments in their comment box!).
34. One person who emails me regularly? my grief group from Phoenix, AZ.
35. My favorite place to eat? anywhere they serve 'crow' or Cracker Barrel (wonderful chicken salad), Outback (only place I eat fillet and this is once or twice a year as it is pricey and I DO love chicken best), Applebees (gotta love the lunch specials and those mini desserts that probably have NO calories at all).
~~~Thank You Lord for the blessings of an understanding "village" as I stumble and fall.

  2. Did I actually call you the village idiot?! And we're still friends?
    Okay! Now we're family! (Because that's how we roll).

    I laughed so hard when I was on Tamara's blog after reading Jackie's comment! And I'm thinking, "Is Marcy losing it or what?!" And then I'm trying to explain my laughter to Ray who is just looking at me like I'm losing it!
    Thanks for the comedy act, Marcy!

    I can't get over that bird you have there, Marcy! I guess he's a lot like me, sometimes I don't learn my lesson until I've run into a brick wall a few times!
    Try to video him!

    And you must have a very bright home with lots of natural light spilling in that tall window! I would love that! (But how do you clean it? And how do you paint those high walls in the foyer? Well, it would be worth the effort to me. I am breaking a commandment here because I am coveting that window!)

    I liked your list, and while I'm not going to promise, I will try to do it!

    And you are such a good sport to put up with all my teasing!
    Love you,
    Eileen

  3. Okay, numbskull. I like that one a lot! And I don't think it does a disservice to anyone. And I can reserve 'Idiot' for the you-know-who men in my life!
    Good job, Marcy!

  5. I too was laughing out load last night Marcy. Katie kept asking "Whats so funny"? But I tell you if I had a dime for every dumb thing I have said or done I would be a rich girl. Mmmm maybe I should start asking for dimes, people would probably have pity on me. Theres a thought.
    What is up with that bird? Maybe he or she wants to be your pet, maybe you should get a cage and set it outside. Maybe he or she will fly into it. Or maybe he or she see's it's reflection and has fallen in love!
    I did enjoy your list. I may do it myself. We shall see.

  6. Marcy......gotta love ya'! Your heart is in the right place. I have to admit, you had me in a bit of a 'sweat'....but all is well.
    I love your photos of your li'l bird. And imagine what the cat must be thinking!!
    It's good to know that we can smile through all things.
    Many smiles to you,
    Jackie

  7. You all are crazy...but funny too! Bernie leaves and you all fall apart...calling each other names...I saw what went on at Tamara's only this morning...but, don't be silly Marcy...we would never run you out of the village...but that bird may run you out of your home!

    You have a Goldfinch trying to attack it's reflection Marcy...A few years ago we had a Cardinal that did this all day everyday all that summer, winter and the following spring ...I AM NOT EXAGGERATING... it drove us batty at first...then we got use to it...I even covered the window with a sheet...he'd just go up and under...fake snakes and owls didn't fool him either...He finally gave up...
    Now one just attacks our car mirrors...and was found inside my son's car pecking at the rear view mirror even!

    I need to go fix lunch...see all you funny people later!
    I wrote a poem too Marcy for today!

  8. I am laughing so hard at Wanda's comment! And she's right! It's like Mother Superior is away from the girls boarding school, and we are 'The Trouble With Angels'! And Marcy is Hailey Mills! Can I be her friend? The one that used to lick her hand to slick down her bangs?
    I love it!

  9. Ok, you crazy bunch, I missed something? Going to have to go back and see what it was...Oh! and just like all of you that bird has gone batty!

  10. Oh, Marcy, Marcy, Marcy! You are waaaay too hard on yourself, and besides without the little occasional 'Brain Drains' we would get all clogged up with the Serious in our lives.
    You can be in my Village any time.
    That little bird reminds me of myself. I can see what I want, but I'm not always aware of the unseen barriers I come up against. Like my own self indulgent ways that keep me from being healthy (too many cookies last night). xoxo <3 Mar.
